The KARLI consortium takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. For this reason, we have taken measures to ensure that the regulations on data protection are observed both by us and by our external service providers and partners.
In the course of the further development of our Internet offer and the technologies used, changes to this data protection declaration may also become necessary. We therefore recommend that you re-read the data protection declaration from time to time. The following statement gives you an overview of how the KARLI consortium ensures the protection of your data and what kind of data is collected for what purpose.
Potential recording of personal data from the vehicle environment
Information on the processing of personal data during test drives for the development of advanced driver assistance systems and novel human-machine interaction systems in the context of automated driving
As part of our measurement drives in public areas, the complete vehicle environment is recorded with imaging techniques (including persons).
If you have been recorded by one of our systems, you have the opportunity to notify us in order to receive information about the processing of your personal data.
For the realization of sophisticated driver assistance functions, among other things, extensive testing and validation operations are necessary. This is partly carried out on public roads, which is why such a vehicle may cross your path at some point.
According to § 34 BDSG/Art. 15 EU DSGVO, you as a data subject have the right to request confirmation from us as to whether personal data concerning you are being processed.

- time of the server request.
The KARLI consortium evaluates data solely for statistical purposes in order to measure the demand of the web offers. The KARLI consortium has no possibility to assign this data to a specific person. A combination of these data with other data sources is not made. IP numbers are recorded for the duration of the visit for the purpose of answering queries and are not stored beyond the end of the visit. Data logged when accessing the internet offer will only be transmitted to third parties if we are obliged to do so by law or by court decision or if the transmission is necessary for legal or criminal prosecution in case of attacks on the internet infrastructure of the KARLI Consortium. A passing on in other cases does not take place.
Data processing via social networks
The KARLI consortium operates publicly available profiles on social networks, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
These social networks are able to analyze in depth user behavior when visiting their websites.
If you are logged into your social media account and visit our social media presence, the operator of the social media portal can associate this visit with your user account. Under certain circumstances, however, your personal data may also be collected if you are not logged in or do not have an account with the respective social media portal. In these cases, your data may be collected through cookies that are stored on your terminal device or through the collection of your IP address.
With the help of the data collected in this way, the operators of social media portals can create user profiles that contain your preferences and interests. This also enables them to show you advertising based on your interests within and outside the respective social media platform. If you have an account with the relevant social network, it is possible to show you advertisements related to your interests on all devices on which you are or were logged into your account.
We have no influence on the storage period of the data that the operators of the social networks store for their own purposes. You can find specific information on this directly from the operators of the social networks.
So-called session cookies are used. Session cookies are small information units that a provider stores in the RAM of the visitor’s computer. A randomly generated unique identification number, a so-called session ID, is stored in a session cookie. In addition, a cookie contains information about its origin and the storage period. These cookies cannot store any other data.
Cookies can be controlled with all Internet browsers. Most browsers are set to accept all cookies without asking users. If you want to use the full functionality of the website, you should set your browser to accept session cookies. If you reject all cookies, you may not be able to use certain features of the website or not to the full extent.
Within the website visit, we use the widespread SSL procedure (Secure Socket Layer) in connection with the highest encryption level supported by your browser. You can see whether an individual page of our website is transmitted in encrypted form by the closed display of the key or lock symbol in your browser.
We also use appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your data against accidental or intentional manipulation, partial or complete loss, destruction or against unauthorized access by third parties. Our security measures are continuously improved in line with technological developments.
