Theory Building

In the context of theory building, the basic aspects of appropriate theories on driver-vehicle models as well as the selection of appropriate scenarios and use cases for data collection will be elaborated.

Problem

In order to enable targeted data collection for AI-based model building and concepts for AI interactions, appropriate theories, representative scenarios, and use cases are needed. 

Solution approach

In order to stay up to date with regard to the various aspects of the project, the work package deals with research.

For the project, it is of high importance to be state-of-the art regarding the construct of (a) theory, (b) data, (c) established as well as to be created AI-models and (d) technical, legal and organizational enablers.

For this reason, extensive research is to be carried out in order to make the processed results of this available for further use within the individual work packages and to make them usable in the best possible way.   

Goal

The goal of the work package is the formation of suitable theories for the driver-vehicle models, as well as the selection of suitable scenarios and use cases for data collection and user integration, and also the demonstrations.

The use cases will be developed primarily for rural road traffic, in line with the overall project goal of developing the foundations for safe and comfortable automated driving on rural roads.

In addition to the main focus on rural road traffic, the use cases will also examine the situation-adapted provision of information and the consideration of user history.

The focus of the Stuttgart Media University (HdM) in the KARLI project is on the evaluation and development of user-centered AI solutions for automated driving vehicles. The goal is to combine a high level of safety with a successful user experience (UX).

Developing AI-driven in-vehicle interaction. KARLI & Audi.

Within KARLI, Audi is working on AI-based interactions in the vehicle with regard to person- and context-sensitivity. The goal is for the human-machine interface to behave adaptively based on the user and system state of the individual operating history.
